A little love for NE Michigan

This area has received some good hype from boys prep basketball guru Steve Bell, who runs the BankHoops.com web site and writes a blog for mlive.com.

In a recent post, Bell ranks the top 25 teams in each class, along with the top players and underclassmen. Of note for people on the Sunrise Side:

Posen is ranked 12th in Class D — the lone area team to be on the list. Not sure what Alcona would have to do to be among that top 25 in Class C, but the Tigers' season-opening loss to Hillman won't get them on there anytime soon.

Alcona's team might not be ranked, but senior guard Jared Steiner is. Steiner was on Bell's seventh team all-state list for Class C. The other two players who were mentioned by Bell were Mio junior Micah Thomey, who was on the Class D sixth team, while Thomey's brother Seth, a sophomore, was on the all-underclassman Class D second team.
